Why Massage Around the Spine?
If you carefully observe people's posture when they are walking or standing, you will discover 80% of them are not balanced or straight. They are either tilted to one side or one shoulder is higher than the other. This is because of the stresses from their lives, their unhealthy life styles, imbalance of emotions, and poor habits. These stresses cause muscle tension, tightness and pressure on the spine and internal organs.
When our muscles pressure our spine and internal organs, the 1st group of symptoms is: shoulder pain; neck pain; upper and lower back pain; leg cramps; constipation, etc.
When the above conditions get worse, a 2nd group of symptoms will appear which include: digestion and intestinal disorders; autoimmune system problems; insomnia; fatigue; all kinds of nerve pain, etc.
Then follows by 3rd group of symptoms: stomach ulcer; intestinal ulcer; liver and kidney organ sickness; heart problems; cancer, etc.
Massage beside the spine and around the whole body are the most effective ways to relax the muscles and spine. This way, there are no wrong pulling and pressure on muscles and internal organs, also our spine can relax and return to its normal position.
Our practitioner do deep massage in our busy acupuncture and massage clinic, located in Gordon Head Saanich, Victoria, BC, Canada. With their much massage experience and knowledge, they have helped many of their patents improved their health condition.
How does Deep Massage work?
Deep massage involves the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body in order to promote relaxation and improve the blood circulation. Deep massage, also known as Swedish massage, is the most common form of massage in North America.
Our deep massage uses long, smooth strokes, kneading and other movements focused on superficial layers of muscle using high quality massage oil and lotion.
What is Reflexology Therapy?
Reflexology (zone therapy) is an alternative medicine method involving the practice of massaging, squeezing, or pushing on parts of the feet, or sometimes the hands and ears, with the goal of encouraging a beneficial effect on other parts of the body, or to improve general health.
What a Deep Massage Session is Like?
A typical deep massage session is between 40 and 90 minutes. Your massage will begin with a brief consultation and review of symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle.
You will be asked to undress (many people keep their underwear on) to wear the bathrobe provided while the practitioner is out of the room, and lie face down under a sheet on a padded massage table. The practitioner will knock on the door to make sure you are ready before he/she come in. The practitioner will then adjust the face rest and pillows to ensure that you are comfortable and properly positioned. Tell the practitioner if you are too warm or cold.
The practitioner uses a light oil or lotion on the skin and begins the massage. A full body massage usually begins on the back and then moves down to the legs. You will then be asked to turn over so you are face up. The massage continues on your head, neck, and shoulder.
After the massage, the practitioner leaves the room so you can get changed. Take your time getting up. If you sit or stand too quickly you may feel lightheaded or dizzy. We recommend you drink two full cups of water after the massage. This is to improve your blood circulation.
Will Deep Massage Hurt?
Deep massage shouldn't hurt. Occasionally there is mild aching when the practitioner applies pressure over "knots" and other areas of muscle tension. If the pressure is too strong for you, let the practitioner know.
How Will I Feel After a Massage?
Most people feel calm and relaxed after a massage treatment. Occasionally, people experience mild temporary aching for a day.
